The carnies resumed their trek up the mountain. They met an Ice Troll and Snow Maiden on their first day. They killed the creatures and spent the night inside the troll cave.

The next day they fought a demonic tree that weeped sap and was yelling in an unknown language. When the fight was over, the tree gradually changed into a very injured and very naked halfling, and the incomprehensible wailing changed to repeating cries of “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” This was Kincade.

He told the Carnies how he’d been trying to reach the hag in order to get his love, Lysandrea, free from her clutches. Instead, the hag turned him into the tree.
The Carnies met a group of snow goblins, led by the hungry Froze. He asked them if anyone was going to eat the halfling, and if he wasn’t up for grabs, what about that dead horse? The goblins led the party to a large cave to rest for the night. Inside the cave was an enormous hand sticking out of the ice, each finger standing over ten feet tall. It appeared to be inert.

During the night, a porcupine-grizzly hybrid interrupted their sleep. The Carnies had him for breakfast then carried Kincade down the mountain, to the circus camp that was set up on the Longroad below.
In the morning, the reincarnated druid Naxtori met up with the party at the circus and asked for his/her Rod of Reincarnation back. Once it was back in his/her possession, the rod started to speak enthusiastically, revealing that it was a sentient item. Naxtori gave the party a scroll of Raise Dead in return.
