Charming Demons

Bowie, Giz and Keeneye reached Triboar in the wee hours of the morning. The town had quickly constructed a wooden fence and gate to protect against lycanthropes, but the Carnies were quickly recognized and allowed in. They were directed to the Golden Duck inn, as the Loose Goose had been burned down the day before.

At the inn, the Carnies met up with Eddie Stonebone (Chief), Burrell (Captain) and Cedric Mittspitter, the current Mayor of Triboar. The children were given food and a bed for the night, and the adults discussed tactics. Eddie said there were somewhere between 60 and 90 lycanthropes in town, but they couldn’t be sure until the next full moon, some three weeks away. And that didn’t take into account those who still outside the town walls. The mayor bemoaned the fact that they couldn’t afford to hire mercenaries from the nearby town of Yartar. The town’s treasury had been wiped out somehow.

The Carnies, realizing that the treasure they found in the basement of the Loose Goose had come from the town treasury, offered some of their riches to the mayor, to hire 45 mercenaries at 100 GP per. The mayor thanked them graciously, and asked if they’d be willing to talk to a famous family of wizards called the Harpells, living in the town of Longsaddle, a 3 day journey up the Longroad. The Harpells would be their best hope for help against the lycanthrope plague.

The next morning, as the Carnies left the inn (with Saul!), they encountered a pair of charming men, each with a woman clinging to his arm. These men turned out to be Kishi Demons. One immediately killed his female companion, while the second woman was rescued from his arms by the heroic Saul. The second demon ran up to and killed a civilian passerby. Killing humans gave the demons tremendous powers. But the Carnies were able to win in the end.
